San Francisco Free and Fair Elections Voter Assembly

6:00 PM November 5, 2008
SF City Hall-Civic Center (E) side
San Franciso, CA 94110

Join us in rallying as a peaceful community to celebrate our First Amendment Right of Freedom of Assembly. We will not assemble if we are out celebrating a free and fair election, which we hope and intend to be. However, if there is evidence of massive election fraud or contention of fair results we will come together to organize our response and bring attention to the situation. We fervently hope that this rally may be unnecessary but should it be, please join us.

We will gather 6pm in Civic Center Plaza in front of City Hall,( on the E. side ). Regardless of the outcome, we can discuss the blatant attempts at voter suppression this election and how to pursue the momentum for true democracy in this country.

the organizers arrived at 6pm, just in case... but were joined by several thousand candlelit souls protesting the likely passage of prop 8, and defiantly asserting our civil right to marry . The Discussion was had, in between the other issue at hand, around keeping pressure on the Obama adminisration for paper records/ballots, an invrestigation and perhaps federal policy-making /enforcement around voter-caging and suppression, as well and perhaps most importantly: campaign finance-reform and concrete, enforceable expenditure-limitations. 5 billion on a single election is obscene in these times. Put the lying, advertising con-men out of business and foster a return to civil-discourse.

It is my contention that civil disobediences are nothing but the latest form of voluntary association, and that they are thus quite in tune with the oldest traditions of the country.
