Rally for Democratic Elections and Accurate Vote Counts

November 5, 2008
Lafayette Square (across from White House)
Washington, DC

Because of several existing reports of illegal voter roll purges, GOP court cases questioning the enfranchisement of newly registered voters; because of reports in several states addressing vote flipping (most frequently reported as flipping from Democratic candidates to Republican), voters from specific communities being misinformed as to date and time of elections or about their eligibility; and because of the general inability to recount or accurately count votes tabulated in DRE, or electronic, voting machinery used to count about 30% of the vote nationwide, we will gather to stand up for democratic, non-privatized elections, wherein every US citizen is able to exercise their franchise and have their vote counted. Whether or not the rightful victor of the 2008 presidential election has been declared, our country, and its elected decision-makers, must make election reform a priority in the short term.
