Home :: Voters Reports
denied votes

From: Patricia Schnedar
November 4, 2008, 1:03 PM
Severity: 5 - extreme

Location:

Oakland, CA 94602

What happened:

Two people in front of me were denied their right to vote. The first incident was a voter who was not on the roster and was told he could not vote there. They gave him information on how to find out where he could vote. I spoke up and questioned if he could get a provisional ballot which ultimately he did. The second incident, a person had requested to vote absentee so her name was not on the allowed to vote list. She had her absentee ballot to turn in but she was denied because they told her she had to turn in both her absentee ballot and the mailing envelope to be able to vote. She left without being able to vote and no one offered a provisional ballot to her. Both of these incidents happened within minutes of each other.

How I know about it:

These 2 incidents occurred in front of me while I was verifying my own ability to vote.
